Get To Know Your Instructor

What first inspired you to become an Instructor, and what keeps you passionate about it today?

My name is Garreth Rosenberg and I have been teaching Pilates for almost 20years. I discovered Pilates during my time spent in the UK in the early 2000’s and for the first time since being in the fitness industry I felt like I was in control of my body.

What can clients expect from your classes — your style, energy, or focus?

I see my style of teaching as old school and very much based on the principles Pilates was founded on. I believe in quality over quantity and clients would experience that in my style of teaching. Slow control movements help in connecting with your body and by slow, I don’t mean easy. Pilates is about movement, and I believe in moving all the time.

Do you have a favorite Pilates / Sculpt move or piece of equipment, and why?

I enjoy the foam roller and the Pilates ring (magic circle). Each prop gives you different feedback and gives different experiences when using it. Even though using props can be challenging, classical mat work is hard.

What’s one fun fact about you that clients might not know?

A fun fact about myself, I like doing some extreme things like I’ve done bungee jump at Victoria Falls, and my next bucket list is Bloukrans bungee jump then paragliding off Signal hill and finally jumping out of an aeroplane.

What do you hope clients walk away feeling after a class with you?

I try to offer clients a unique experience that will enhance their way of practicing Pilates and through that, trust that they are able to feel the beauty in the movements and listen to, and respect, their bodies. I want to remind clients that is not about working hard but working smart.
